A scalp massager can be an absolutely awesome tool that can bring lots of benefits that exceed having a healthy hair. My post will go beyond finding the best scalp massager, although that’s definitely the focus.
But I’ll also tell you that you can massage your scalp with your fingers if you don’t want to get a best scalp massager because there are some nice benefits to be gained from a daily scalp massage.

What Is a Scalp Massager?
A scalp massager is exactly what the name says, a tool that massages the scalp.
It can be either a handheld manually operated one that needs to be moved around the head by your hand or it can be an electric type that pretty much does the work by itself.
Most of the handheld manual operation scalp massagers are actually tools that can be used during the shower and they have dual purposes:
- to be used as a scalp massager
- and for thoroughly shampooing the hair – which is why this type of scalp massagers are also called shampoo brushes
So, you can use the handheld scalp massagers on wet skin as well as dry skin.
Electric scalp massagers are traditionally used on dry hair. Unless they stipulate that they’re waterproof.
The electric scalp massagers that I review are all waterproof, whether they’re the recharging type or they require 1 AA battery to function.
Top 6 Best Scalp Massagers
When we’re talking about the best scalp massagers our focus will be on handheld tools that are very cheap and easily found.
Some of the electric type are more expensive but there are a few models that are quite affordable.
In these best scalp massagers reviews I’ll cover all that. You can quite a few nice options to choose from.
1.Heeta Soft Silicone Scalp Massager – Overall Best Scalp Massager
This is one of the best sold scalp massager. And the reviews from users are impressive. Frankly, it’s rare that we come across a product that receives high praises from such a large number of people.
It’s no wonder that I’ve also chosen to recommend the Heeta as the overall best scalp massager.
There are 4 available colors and they all look great: black, purple, green, and pink. The vibrant colors are just wonderful, they inspire a happy state by themselves.
It’s a handheld manually operated scalp massager that most people use under the shower while shampooing. That’s why it’s also called shampoo brush. But it can also be used on dry scalp.
The soft silicone brush is its top feature. It will feel marvelous and provide a relaxing experience, there’s no need to fear that the soft brush will create an uncomfortable feeling, quite the opposite will happen.
The purpose is achieving healthier hair.
It can also reduce dandruff by removing dead skin cells, being a means to achieve a soft exfoliation for your scalp.
The shape is great, ergonomic, perfectly fits the palm and it won’t damage those with long and manicured nails.
Plus, the cherry on top is the pretty awesome price, it’s definitely affordable.
2. Vitagoods Scalp Massaging Shampoo Brush
At more than double the price than the above best scalp massager, we have the Vitagoods Scalp Massaging Shampoo Brush.
Why the price difference?
Because this one is a handheld vibrating massager. It needs 1 AA battery, which is not included.
Well, the vibrations can be a nice touch without a doubt but there’s no way that we can say that the addition of vibrations actually improves the benefits of a scalp massager so, I’m still not convinced that it’s worthy of the pretty high price.
You can use it with or without the vibrations, it has an On/Off button. Otherwise, it’s a lot similar to the above Heeta Soft Silicone Scalp Massager. That’s still my first choice.
It comes in 4 colors: purple, green, black, and white.
Even though it’s an electric massager, it’s also water-resistant so it can be used both on dry scalp and in the shower, it’s called a shampoo brush, after all.
3. Queenwill Electric Handheld Hair Massager
The Queenwill Electric Handheld Hair Massager has a pretty nice price for an electric best scalp massager.
It also has not 1 but 2 vibration modes: you need to press the On/Off button once for regular mode, press twice for pulse mode, and press again to turn it off.
The Queenwill Electric Handheld Hair Massager promises to offer thousand of vibrations per minute, it should definitely feel very relaxing.
It is operated by 1 AA battery, which is not included.
Furthermore, it has a 5 minute auto-timer. That’s a good addition because a scalp massage should last for about 4-5 minutes but if this hair massager has an auto-timer then you don’t have to wonder how much time has passed since you started your massage.
This one is also waterproof so it can be used in the shower for a deeper cleaning.
The brush is soft and it’s made from TPE, which is a kind of rubber known for its soft touch.
And I like the pink color and the ergonomic shape, which is to be expected.
4. Latme Electric Scalp Massager – One of the Best Electric Scalp Massagers
Since we’re talking about electric scalp massagers, it’s time to talk about one of the best.
It has awesome reviews from users, there’s no way that I wouldn’t want to recommend it to you.
The awesome thing about this electric scalp massager is that it’s more than that and that’s a pretty unique thing among the models featured in my post.
The Latme Electric Scalp Massager can also be used on the neck, arms, shoulders, legs, back, all over the body basically.
It also has 4 massage heads that are detachable so you can wash them easily.
This is described as being able to offer 3D deep-kneading, which sounds great, much better than just receiving some vibrations.
Moreover, it also boasts of patented hand-stimulation.
There are also 4 massage modes: counterclockwise low/high speed and clockwise low/high speed. You can experiment with them and see which feels better.
Also, this is a cordless rechargeable electric scalp massager, it doesn’t work on batteries, I’m pretty sure quite a few will appreciate that.
Surprisingly, it’s also waterproof and I wasn’t expecting that but, being cordless, I see how that works out.
It also comes with 1-year warranty.
The Latme Electric Scalp Massager definitely seems to be the complete package with a complexity that the other best scalp massagers don’t seem to offer. It’s no wonder that the price is a bit higher than what you might expect but still, nothing to be scared of.
5. Cbiumpro Scalp Massager – Awesome Pack of 2
It seems that the Cbiumpro is a best scalp massager for thick hair, although it seems that pretty much everyone appreciates it.
These two are the handheld manually operated scalp massagers.
It works for all hair types and lengths. It’s a nice addition to have in the shower. But it can also be used on dry scalp.
And the price is really cheap, there’s no better deal considering that you get two of these.
From what some users say in their reviews, it seems to be a great success with kids but it’s nice to see that some people enjoy this scalp massager as much as their dogs. Since it’s a get two deal you can get one for you and one for your furry friend.
6. Breo Portable Mini Scalp Massager
This electric scalp massager has a bit of mixed reviews. Some people absolutely love it, while others consider it to be too aggressive for the scalp, much more suitable for the body.
Taking into consideration the mixed reviews and the fact that it’s really expensive, even for a best electric scalp massager, I decided to leave the review for the Breo Portable Mini Scalp Massager for last.
Let’s see exactly what it offers for the high price and then you can see if it’s worth it or not. In my opinion, the price is way too high for what it offers.
The design looks great, it has a small compact form in an electric blue color.
There are also 4 massage heads and Breo assures us that they feature eco friendly softer silicone 24 scratches per head.
So, there are 96 contact points. And they promise to deliver professional-grade results thanks to its ability to deliver longitudinal gliding, kneading, trigger point stimulation, and oscillating pressure.
It sounds fancy and quite technical. As expected, it works in clockwise and counterclockwise movements at the same time.
The Breo Portable Mini Scalp Massager can be used for the scalp but it’s also a full-body massager. It’s water resistant with long battery life. And a 1-year warranty.
Scalp Massager Alternatives: Fingers Scalp Massage
As I told you right in the introduction, you can massage your scalp with your fingers. If you’re really lucky maybe you have someone to give you a scalp massage on the days when you don’t feel like it.
If you want the benefits, you should massage your scalp daily. Just like we’re washing our face or applying sunscreen daily.
An average time of 5 minutes daily or even twice daily if you get into the habit should be enough.
You can start at the temples and gently apply pressure with your fingertips, don’t use your nails, it won’t feel pleasant.
From the temples move in circular motions up the head, massage the top of the head, the sides, and then you finish at the back of the head and base of the skull.
You just need to apply firm, constant pressure.
Check out barber-license.com if you want to know what essential oils you can use during your massage if you’re doing it on dry hair.
For example, lavender oil is used for dandruff and rose oil is for moisturizing the hair and scalp.
Scalp Massage Benefits
Even if you don’t end up buying the best scalp massager there are still interesting scalp massage benefits that you should know about because you can give yourself a scalp massage with only your fingers if you want to enjoy some of these benefits.
One of the main benefits of scalp massagers even for a daily massage of 4-5 minutes is an increase in hair thickness. Unfortunately, an increased hair growth rate hasn’t been established by any study.
They’re also great for exfoliating the scalp and helping with dandruff and the removal of dead skin cells. Plus, hair serums and products can be more efficiently absorbed.
Another fantastic benefit and why I definitely loved searching for the best scalp massager is the relaxing factor, the increased blood flow that has positive influence both on our physical, mental, and emotional states. That’s the main attraction in my case.
If you want to know even more check out my post on scalp massager benefits. But maybe you’re already convinced and you’re ready to buy your best scalp massager, my reviews might come in handy.
