How to Get Rid of Coarse Chin Hair (Complete Guide)

How to get rid of coarse chin hair

Talking about how to get rid of coarse chin hair would be totally incomplete without providing reviews for some of the best chin hair removal products.

If I look closely in the mirror I can already spot some hairs that are going to become troublesome in the future but I already know all about how to get rid of coarse chin hair so I’m not worrying too much. At least, I know which method I’m going to use.

But if you don’t or you want to try another chin hair removal method, I’m sure this post on how to get rid of coarse chin hair will help you.

As for me personally, when the time comes, I’ll first use cold facial wax strips because they’re easy to use. If I apply some aloe vera gel after and my usual moisturizer, my skin won’t get irritated.

After a while, when my skin gets used to the whole hairs being removed from the root process, I will use my epilator with the facial cap on, on speed 1.

How to Get Rid of Coarse Chin Hair: Best Products

1. Shaving: Tinkle

Women shaving facial hair is no longer something taboo, it’s actually something that many women take pleasure in doing because these special facial razors are used directly on dry skin, don’t irritate that skin at all, there’s no cutting risk and they even exfoliate the skin.

2. Depilatory Creams: Avon Skin so Soft Facial Hair Removal Cream

Hair removal creams for removing chin hair are another painless solution and if you get the timing right on how much the cream should be left on to dissolve the hairs, it will become a very easy process, although facial razors are still more simple.

3. Waxing: Nad’s Facial Wax Strips

If waxing is something that you wish to do, the easiest method is to use facial wax strips and these ones from Nad’s are some of the best and some of the cheapest.

4. Epilation: Emjoi e18

If you don’t have acne-prone skin, using an epilator is one of the cheapest hair removal methods for removing chin hair and it pulls the hairs from the roots so the smooth skin will last for about 2 weeks.

How to Get Rid of Chin Hair: At-Home Hair Removal Methods

Now that you know my plan, let’s talk more about the various methods we can use to get rid of chin hair.

There are 5 methods that I want to briefly discuss:

  • shaving
  • hair removal creams
  • threading
  • waxing
  • epilation

I’ve left out laser hair removal and electrolysis because those are not as widely accessible to everyone.

I’m just going to focus on the chin hair removal methods that can be considered by everyone no matter where they are located. And, most importantly, those that can be used at home without costing too much.

1. Shaving

If you want to know how to get rid of chin hair without feeling any pain or discomfort, shaving is the obvious answer.

I’m not talking about shaving in the traditional sense, where you have to use hot water and a shaving cream.

There are special facial razors, one of the best being the Tinkle razor.

How does it work?

You use it directly on dry skin without any preparation or fuss.

It cuts the hairs in a matter of seconds, whether you have peach fuzz or coarse hairs.

After that, all you need to do is apply a moisturizer.

The Tinkle is sharp enough to cut the hairs but the blade is made with the thought of removing facial hair only so there’s no risk of cuts or nicks.

The downside: you will have to repeat the process in 2-3 days. Some even daily. It’s quite inconvenient from this point of view but at least it’s a cheap method and you will be hair-free in no time.

The Tinkle Razor

If you’ve decided that shaving is the perfect chin hair removal method for you,

Then I recommend getting the Tinkle razor, which was created exclusively for facial hair removal.

  • it’s really cheap
  • really fast, there’s no special skill required
  • there’s no risk of cutting yourself
  • you get to use it on dry skin
  • it also acts as an exfoliator
  • you can use it for a complete facial hair removal, including as an eyebrow shaper
  • it works for peach fuzz and coarse hair

2. Hair Removal Creams

Hair removal creams are the second chin hair removal method that is totally painless.

Even so, the process is a bit more complicated than shaving.

It takes a bit longer and you must be more careful with how long you leave the cream on the skin, otherwise it might cause burns.

It’s all about following the instructions precisely.

Firstly, you must test the product so you are sure that you’re not allergic to it.

Secondly, you should leave the cream on your face for the amount of time that it says in the instructions, never longer.

Thirdly, besides the waiting time and the fact that you will have to repeat the process in 3-5 days, there are no other downsides.

From my point of view, it’s still a complicated chin hair removal method.

Avon Skin so Soft Facial Hair Removal Cream, 1 oz

It’s a great option for those who prefer depilatory creams.

The price is not bad and it works on both peach fuzz and coarse hairs.

The instructions are also simple: apply it in a thick layer, leave it on for up to 8 minutes and then remove it.

The 8 minutes comes as a recommendation from Avon but it might be too much.

If we’re talking about peach fuzz, you can begin by leaving it on for 2 minutes and then rinse it off. For coarse hairs, try 3 minutes and see if the hairs are dissolved entirely.

3. Threading

Unlike the above two methods on how to get rid of coarse chin hair (shaving and hair removal creams), threading is not painless. It’s a bit painful but manageable.

However, you need to find a professional.

I definitely wouldn’t be able to remove hairs from the root with just a thread. I still find it amazing but this is an ancient method.

It has withstood the test of time because it’s that good. It’s still really popular.

Why do I recommend it for chin hair removal and overall facial hair removal (sideburns, cheeks, upper lip, and so on)?

Because it’s less likely to cause irritation and breakouts, unlike the next two methods (waxing and epilation).

If you have sensitive skin, threading is the first thing you should try if you want to remove those hairs from the root.

You still need to moisturize after each session but that’s mandatory no matter which chain hair removal method you’re using.

It’s the same for the rest of the body.

4. Waxing

When it comes to waxing your chin hair or any facial hair, there’s one decision to be made first:

Are you going to use hard wax, the type that needs to be melted then it hardens and then it can be pulled with the hairs from the root?

Or are you going to use cold facial wax strips, the type that are applied directly on the skin and then pulled without needing to get the right temperature and stuff like that?

Obviously, using cold facial wax strips is: really easy, not messy, fast, and perfect for any beginner, even if it’s your first chin hair removal session at home.

How do you use cold waxing strips?

  • heat the strip between the palm and then pull it apart
  • apply it in the direction in which the hairs are growing
  • massage the area a bit so that the wax sticks to the hairs, not the skin
  • grab a corner and pull in the opposite direction
  • the only thing to remember is to pull the strip quickly without any hesitation

It’s a painful method but a bit less painful than epilation. You’ll get used to it quickly.

The strips are not that expensive.

I’ve used them for many years to remove my upper lip hair before switching to epilation.

It’s what I also recommend for coarse chin hair removal.

If you’re already accustomed to using a waxing kit with cold wax then you can use that one for chin hair removal, too.

Remember to sooth the irritated skin immediately after the hairs are gone.

Nad’s Facial Wax Strips

Nad’s Facial Wax Strips are perfect for chin hair removal and for the rest of the face, as well.

There are 10 double sided strips per pack or 20 cold facial wax strips.

And there’s a pack of two so, it’s an advantageous deal.

It’s not bad at all for the money. These are one of the most affordable cold facial wax strips.

Those should last quite a while. You’re probably end up using 1 double sided strip on your chin.

Don’t apply a strip on the same area more than twice, you might irritate the skin.

There are also 4 wipes for removing the residues.

Don’t throw away a wipe after using it just one time.

5. Epilating

Last but not least on how to get rid of chin hair, there are tiny devices with a lot of rotating tweezers that grab the hairs and pull them from the root.

I’m talking about epilators.

I use such a device with a facial cap attached on to remove my upper lip hairs.

This method is a bit more painful than waxing, which in turn is a bit more painful than threading.

So, on the pain scale we have threading, waxing, and epilators.

Even so, the process is really fast.

In a minute I’m done with all my upper lip and I only have to repeat the same thing in two weeks’ time.

I hope that the chin area is not as sensitive as my upper lip. But I’m not to eager to find out on my own, so maybe you can help me by telling me how it’s been for you.

Epilators are popular for a number of reasons:

  • they’re cheap because once you pay for a device it will be with you for many years, there’s no refills no nothing;
  • not messy at all;
  • really easy to use by anyone

If you decide that you want an epilator for chin hair removal, there are two options:

You can get a facial epilator – at the moment the Emjoi e18 is one of the best facial epilators.

Or you can get an epilator for the body that also comes with a facial cap.

What else do you need to know?

As I’ve already said, if you have sensitive skin or if you’ve suffered from breakouts, it’s best to start with threading or with using cold facial wax strips for your chin hair removal.

After a year or so, you can get an epilator.

Emjoi Epi Slim e18

At the moment, this is the best facial epilator and it’s one of the best products for how to get rid of coarse chin hair.

It has 18 tweezers, which is more than any device from its category.

Due to that, you can even use it to remove hairs from the underarms and the bikini area.

Besides the eyebrows, you can use it on the entire face.

It works great on peach fuzz as well as coarse hairs.

It’s powered by 2 AA batteries and that will be your only expense for a very long time.

It’s pretty affordable, considering all that.

If you’ve ever wondered about how to get rid of chin hair without spending too much money or too much effort,

The Emjoi Epi Slim e18 might be the perfect answer.

Just move it slowly in the opposite direction in which the hairs are growing. That’s it.

Besides all the above ways on how to get rid of chin hair, there are two more chin hair removal methods that I haven’t tried on any part of my body or face.

One is laser hair removal, which offers long results, no hair regrowth for at least 2 years, and the other is electrolysis, which is permanent. The hairs will be gone for good.

What do you think, what will be your answer to how to get rid of coarse chin hair, which products are the best for you?
